Helping a small business go big with ChatGPT

Derek and Larissa Guetter are using ChatGPT to help grow their small business into an entertainment giant.

Building Big Air

Eleven years ago Derek and Larissa Guetter created ATV Big Air Tour – a traveling ATV stunt show. They started as a small regional outfit, but quickly grew into one of the most successful motorsports tours in the country.

They wanted to continue growing their business, but their biggest challenge was having too much to do, and not enough manpower to do it. They were juggling the logistics of the show and the administrative tasks of running a small business, all while raising three young daughters. Most show days they were working until 3am just to keep up.

Supercharging the tour

Derek and Larissa found ChatGPT in 2023, and soon after they started using it across their entire business. They now use ChatGPT to create marketing plans, social strategies, and client reports, along with tour schedules and equipment inventory reports.

They also use ChatGPT on site on show days. They use it as a sound engineer to help them set up their speakers and stage, and as a mechanic to help troubleshoot their equipment. ChatGPT helps Derek create bespoke scripts for each show to connect better with local audiences and helps Larissa keep track of giveaways and merchandise.

“ChatGPT is simplifying things. What would normally take us two weeks, we have done in a morning.”

Sound engineering

Show me the best way to set up my speakers onstage for a 250 ft wide covered grandstand.

Split the grandstand into three coverage zones: left, center, and right.

Diagram showing a three-zone speaker setup for a 250-foot-wide grandstand.
  • Place one PS18 sub and one PS15 top about 20 feet left of center.
  • Place a second PS18 and PS15 stack at center.
  • Place the third PS18 and PS15 stack about 20 feet right of center.
  • Aim the center top straight ahead and angle the outside tops slightly outward to cover the left and right seating zones.
  • Use the fourth PS15 as a stage monitor or extra side fill if one outer section needs more coverage.

This should give you even coverage across the roughly 250-foot-wide grandstand while minimizing gaps between zones.

Client recap report

Can you please create me a microsite that recaps last night’s event? Include event title, summary, photos, metrics, and include all social media stats.

Your client recap microsite is ready:

It includes attendance, audience demographics, social engagement, giveaways, sponsor exposure, fan interaction, safety and operational results, client feedback, and next-event recommendations. All figures are labeled as sample data, and the report can be downloaded as a PDF using the button at the top.

Marketing plan

This week I have to get ready for our next event in Hays, Kansas. Can you help me put together a marketing plan for the event?

Absolutely. Here’s a practical marketing plan you can run in the week leading up to the Hays, Kansas show.

Hays, Kansas marketing plan

Goal: Build local awareness and attendance among families and motorsports fans.

One week before

  • Announce the event on Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok.
  • Share a stunt video with the date, location, and showtimes.
  • Tag the venue, sponsors, riders, and local Hays organizations.
  • Ask the coordinator to promote the show through their website, email, and social channels.

During the week

  • Post rider spotlights, behind-the-scenes footage, and countdown reminders.
  • Run a small paid social campaign within 60 miles of Hays.
  • Share practical information, including admission, parking, weather, and showtimes.

Show day

  • Post the schedule and capture setup, stunts, crowd reactions, giveaways, and sponsor signage.
  • Encourage guests to tag #ATVBigAirTour.

After the event

  • Share a highlight reel and thank the organizers, sponsors, and fans.
  • Record attendance, social engagement, giveaways, and audience feedback for the client recap.

ChatGPT also helps them keep the business moving while they’re on the road—it plans their day, keeps track of client communication, evaluates potential sponsorships, and troubleshoots issues in real time so they can focus on putting on the best show possible. That flexibility matters for a small business competing with multi-million dollar entertainment properties.

“Being on the road, you basically have to learn to go with the flow. Anything can come up right before showtime, and you just have to pivot and figure out how to make it work.”

“There’s so much freedom in being an entrepreneur because you can dream something and make it happen.”

Dreaming bigger

With the time ChatGPT gives them back, Derek and Larissa are focusing on their next goal: creating standalone ATV Big Air Tour events that fill amphitheaters and stadiums with fans. They want to reach as many people as possible, and inspire the next generation of ATV riders and entrepreneurs, including their three young daughters.

The Guetters built their entire business with family in mind, and hope to pass down their entrepreneurial spirit as their daughters grow, showing them that anything is possible if you’re willing to take the leap.

“ChatGPT has given me more time back with my family than I ever thought was possible.”
